SWU Online students may request books or other items from Rickman Library by clicking the "Online or Graduate Student Loan Request" link within SWUcat.
Materials requested through SWUcat or interlibrary loan will be mailed to your home address if you do not live within driving distance of SWU. Items requested through PASCALcat should be delivered to the participating PASCAL library closest to you. Use this same library for returning materials.
To return materials to Rickman Library, mail them via USPS media rate or drop them off at a participating PASCAL Library for return via the courier.
Return mailing address:
Southern Wesleyan University / Rickman Library / 907 Wesleyan Dr. / PO Box 1020 / Central, SC 29630.
Is there a charge for requesting books?
Article requests are free. For physical items (books, dvds, etc.), the patron is responsible for a $3 postage fee and any charges enforced by the lending library. Most items are free, but some libraries charge a small amount to lend their items. The patron will be notified of any charges before the request is processed.
How long can I keep my books?
Due dates will be listed on the materials when you receive them in the mail (or pick them up if you are a local student). PASCAL books are loaned for 6 weeks, ILL due dates are determined by the lending library, and SWU books may be kept for 1 month from the date of check-out.
Can I renew?
Books from Rickman Library or those obtained through PASCAL may be renewed. SWU books may be renewed twice for a period of one month each renewal, and PASCAL books may be renewed once for a period of 3 weeks. To renew SWU or PASCAL books, log into your "MySWUcat" account within SWUcat. Renewals for interlibrary loan books are approved or denied by the lending library. To request a renewal on an ILL item, contact Joni Addis.
